Craftsman Article August 2016

Brothers and Sisters the Summer has flown by and the kids are back in school. Please remember to watch for school zones and be aware of all school buses.

Our brothers and sisters at WFAA-TV will soon vote on a renegotiated three (3) year deal with a 1.5% increase to the members and a .50% performance increase (merit bonus) at the Company’s discretion. This contract shall be enforced through 2019 with wage openers in August 2017 and August 2018.

The Oncor saga continues. If you receive emails from the union office you should have received an email on Tuesday, August 16th that asked for your input. The email read as follows; NextEra is going through the regulatory process of buying Oncor Electric Delivery. IBEW Local 69 will intervene and be a part of the hearings at the Texas Public Utility Commission regarding the sale. Please email me your top three (3) issues that you believe need to be addressed with the new owners that would make Oncor a better company and a better place for you to work. I would like to thank everyone that took the time to reply to the request. I am asking all members to send me an email at ibewloc69@aol.com so that we can get as much input as possible. If you are not on the email list and would like to be included in the emails make that known in your email to the office.

President, Ross McAuley and I are scheduled to go to the 39th IBEW Convention in September. We are looking forward to the opportunity to visit with union leadership that represents workers at Florida Power and Light (NextEra). When we return we will have a better understanding of the relationship they have with their company and the negotiated benefits they have.

This year Labor Day falls on Monday, September 5th. I would like to wish everyone a safe and great holiday. Of all the holidays this one is especially for all of you that grind it out every day so the lights stay on.

Until next time may God bless you, your family and IBEW Local 69.
