Craftsman - November 2016

Brothers and Sisters this year has flown by, the holiday season is upon us. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday. NextEra has filed for application at the Texas Public Utility Commission to purchase Oncor Electric Delivery. The Docket No. is 46238 and the first part of the proposed Procedural Schedule is as follows; Open Meeting (Preliminary Order) December 1, Intervention Deadline November 30, Discovery Deadline for Applicants’ Direct December 22, January 2 – 11, Intervenor Direct Testimony January 20, 2017, etc. etc. The Statutory 180 – Day Deadline is April 29, 2017. IBEW Local 69 is an Intervener on this Docket.

IBEW Local 69 will have elections for local union officers in February 2017. Nominations for officers will be at the January 2017 unit meetings. Elections for officers will be in February and the newly elected officers will take office in March 2017. The officers will be elected to three year terms. The local union office will mail a notification of elections letter to members on December 1, 2016, explaining the process in greater detail.

I would like to thank all the officers that served the past three years for our local union. Also, I would like to thank all the stewards of Local 69. I realize many times representing co-workers can be a thankless job but, never underestimate the value in what you do. Without rank and file members and good job site stewards organized labor does not work. That’s why companies promote good stewards and officers.

It has been my honor to have the opportunity and privilege to represent the men and women of IBEW Local 69. I look forward to getting to know many of the new hires that I have not had the opportunity to meet. I know they are in good hands and that you will welcome them to the Brotherhood and teach them your craft. It is an honor to call you my brothers and sisters.

Until next time may God bless you , your family, and IBEW Local 69.

Fraternally yours

Bobby W. Reed
